If you haven’t done so already, check out the NEWS Hour’s report by Betty Ann Bowser on the Geisinger Health System in PA. The main idea is “Pay-for-Performance,” which stipulates a “value” delivery or “bundling” of services at a set price. Should one get sick within 90days of a surgery at the Geisinger Health System, a hospital system in PA, the Hospital guarantees your surgery. The Obama administrationhas touted a “pay-for-performance” system for Medicare as 30% ofMedicare surgeries end-up back in the hospital—And guess what—it’s at taxpayer expense.
